almost spring

This week's weather has been fantastically fair and spring-like. Though we chose a particularly windy day, a couple of friends & I went to the park to enjoy the sunshine. Now of course, the weather has reverted to its February chill, but the small taste of oncoming Spring was wonderful all the same.

Spooky

Sadly, this weekend, my best kitty cat friend passed away. She moved with us all the way from California almost fourteen years ago. We shared our birthday and I picked her, a small thing with black fur, out of a litter of otherwise siamese kittens not long after I turned six. My parents promised me a kitten after much begging on my part if, for ten whole days, I made sure Ben, our Chow, was supplied with food and water, brushed, and played with.
Spooky was the sweetest kitty I've ever met. We grew up together. She was there every time I cried. She put up with all the silly kittens I've brought home over the past fifteen years and still loved me. I miss her entirely. Goodnight, pretty lady.

Valentines

I participated in a Valentines swap hosted by Lyndsey at the Stationary Place. Unfortunately, I sent mine a bit late due to the craziness that was the end of January. With any luck, they each reached their destinations. My swap mates were:
Lillian @ unstitched
Sarah @ inoculated
Emily @ Evlove
& Stephanie @ light in my heart
These are the valentines I sent out; made with tracing paper, scraps of scrapbooking paper, old book pages, a heart punch, a white paint pen and sequins.

I received some adorable cards in return, and when I get a chance, I'll post photos to show them off!
I spent my Valentine's Day with a couple girlfriends and my new roommates, making dinner & cupcakes, drinking boxed wine, and watching Lifetime on television...and it was just wonderful.
